The term 'Volume' refers to the space occupied by the figure in 'three dimensions'. (e.g) cube, cuboid, cone, cylinder, sphere etc.
Volume of a combination of solids
The volume of the solid formed by joining two basic solids will actually be the sum o the volumes of the constituents.
Total Surface Area
The total surface area of a solid is the sum of the curved surface area + the sum of the area of the smooth surface.

Room or a rectangular solid
L x B x H 2(LB + LH + BH)
a) Area of 4 walls = 2(L + B) x H
b) Diagonal =  L2 + B2 + H2
Cube

Side3 6 x Side2
a) Diagonal =  3 x side
b) Sum of edges = 12 x side
Right Circular Cylinder

a) of sides = rl
b) total surface = r2+ rl
(l = => slant ht.)
a) h2 + r2 = l2
